It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Renate Hakenson (Chicopee, Massachusetts), born in Berlin, Massachusetts, who passed away on October 26, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Roitzsch and Gertrude Roitzsch (Nemitz); her husband Charles V. Hakenson; her children, Ronald "Rusty" Hakenson and Sharon Lea Sheehan; and her sister Helga Burghardt.

She is survived by: her daughter Deborah LaValley (John) of West Springfield; her children-in-law, Sue Hakenson of West Springfield and John Sheehan of California; her grandchildren, John, Katie, Candice, Jayme, Meggen and Kristen; and her great grandchildren, Taylor, Christopher, Sage, Mackenzie and John.
