It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter C. Francis (Chicopee, Massachusetts), who passed away on June 1, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Walter C. Francis to pay them a last tribute.

As we bid Walter farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Walter is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.

He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Francis (Sawyer); his daughters, Donna L. Marratta of Chicopee and Patricia A. Henderson of Chicopee; and his grandchildren, Dominic and Tiarra (Adam).

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Sainte Rose Cemetery (49 Olsen St, Chicopee, MA 01020).

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Lorraine's Soup Kitchen and Pantry, 170 Pendexter Avenue, Chicopee, MA 01013.

“Walter “Red” Francis was my best friend. I will never again share with anyone the years I was so blessed to have with him. Saturday fishing trips with him always started with his red Jeep pulling down the driveway, two cups of hot Dunkin’s coffee and a quick wisecrack or two. He was always easy to talk to, fun to be with….and if you were as lucky as I was, he possessed an enormous amount of history of the railroad, old neighborhoods…things most folks missed. Goodbye my friend, we’ll meet again,”
