He was predeceased by : his brother Dennis R. "Doc" O'Connell; his nephews, Thomas McGeehan, Matthew Lugo and Russell O'Connell; his niece Khel McGeehan; and his parents, Thomas F. O'Connell and Rose O'Connell (Dupont).

He is survived by : his wife Mary O'Connell (Brown); his siblings, Rita E. McGeehan, Arlene R. "Chickie" Wattu (John), Thomas F. O'Connell and Mary C. Lugo (Vic); and his sister-in-law Eileen O'Connell. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
