He was predeceased by: his parents, James Richard Carter II and Juliet Greene Carter. He is survived by: his sister Ann (Snyder); his wife Jean (Beebe); his daughters, Juliet (Seanbaker Carter), Alison (Kyle Norris) and Stephanie (Matt Lydon); and his grandchildren, Carolyn, Judson, Miller, Grafton Norris, James, Tacy, Harper Carter, Wilder, Marlowe, Birdie Lydon, Maggie and Jimmy Kingsbury. He is also survived by friends, multiple god children.
