He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Smith and Phoebe Smith; his sons, Ian Madison, Edward Smith Jr. and Eric Dewey Sr.; his siblings, Alton, John, Henry Ellsworth and Emily Smith; and his nieces, Brenda Ellsworth and Betty Jane Oakes.
He is survived by: his significant other Elaine Marie Matteson; his daughters, Chloe Briggs and Terri Madison; his grandchild Lael Harrington; his great grandchildren, Carter and Owen; his grandchildren, Eric Dewey Jr., Kacie Chadwell, Corbin Dewey, Karlee Chadwell, Leazy and Mercedes Howell; his mother-in-law Doris Matteson; and his siblings-in-law, Janet Ellsworth, Robin Mazzantini (Bob), Raymond and Scott Matteson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Berkshire Humane Society and mailed to the funeral home at 890 East Main St. Dalton, MA 01226.
