He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cleary and Margaret Cleary (Spears); his wife Karen Cleary (French); and his siblings, Louise Clancy and Bobby Cleary.
He is survived by: his children, James Sullivan III of Plymouth, MI, Sean Sullivan (Audrey) of Salem, Heather DeRocher (Paul) of Hopedale, Kelly Cameron (Jeremy) of Beverly and Kevin Cleary (Katelyn) of Salem; his grandchildren, June, Maisie, Ellen, James Sullivan of Paul, DeRocher, Zoey, Jacob, John Cameron, Madison Purpura and Owen Cleary; and his sister Roberta Tamilio. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Josefa Rivera de Grateraux's Funeral Service (84 Washington Square, Salem, MA 01970). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 at the Greenlawn Cemetery (57 Orne St, Salem, MA 01970).
