She was predeceased by: her parents, Ferderico and Teodora (Rodrigues); her husband Carlos L. Viegas; and her siblings, Abilio of Abreu and Ana Maria Matias.
She is survived by: her children, Raul F. "Fil" Viegas (Lana) of Stuart, Florida, Celia R. Norcross (William) of Adams, MA and Monica S. Viegas of Springfield, MA; her siblings, Silva of Australia and José Alfredo; her grandchildren, Evan Norcross, Tyler Norcross, Drew Norcross, Lexii Viegas, Matthew Byers, Mallory Byers and Lea Burn; and her great grandchildren, Michael, Drew and Jovi.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mill Street, New Bedford on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. Kindly omit flowers and please consider making a donation in Maria's memory to a Nursing Scholarship that will be created in her name.
