He was predeceased by : his wife Laureen Peck Gilligan; and his sister Nancy Gilligan Driscoll. He is survived by : his children, James, Meghan Gilligan of Foxborough, Kayleigh, Brian Foley of North Attleboro and McKenna Gilligan (Patricia J. Brennan) of Dedham; his sister Claire Gilligan Tremblay; and his granddaughters, Lauren, Joleen, Veronica and Norah. He is also survived by loving father to his children.
