He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Carroll and Annette Carroll of Cotuit; and his brothers, Herbert Carroll, Christopher Carroll and Geoffrey Carroll.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Carroll; his children, Richard Carroll (Lauren) of Jamaica Plain and Meghan Durkee (Anthony) of Canton; and his siblings, David Carroll of Wellesley and Nancy Ginnetty of Yarmouth.
