He was predeceased by : his parents, James W. McDonough and Mildred J. McDonough (Rice); and his siblings, Rita T. McDonough and Robert G. McDonough. He is survived by : his wife Celia M. McDonough (Connell); his children, James W. McDonough (Suzie), Brian P. McDonough (Ann), Brendan P. McDonough (Luisa), Matthew M. McDonough (Tricia) and Anni G. Zukauskas (Thomas); his siblings, Jean L. Costa and Richard B. McDonough (Joan); his grandchildren, Brenden, Kelsi, Patrick, Kevin, Michael, Declan, Dylan, Sophia, Matthew, Jack and Anne Marie; and his great grandchild Sunday Joy. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home (740 Adams St, Dorchester, MA 02122). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Gregory Church (2223 Dorchester Ave, Boston, MA 02124). A burial was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the St. Joseph Cemetery (990 Lagrange St, Boston, MA 02132).
