He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Bernard Gaffney and Lena Gaffney (Clancy); his wife Anna Theresa Kent of County Wexford, Ireland.; his sons, Joseph, Emmet, Bernard Gaffney and Joe; his grandchildren, William, Anastasia, Andrew, Stephen, Amelia and Sophia; and his siblings, John, Bernard, Francis Gaffney, Roseleen Wier, Kathleen Fahey, Rita DuFour, Hughie, Desmond and Leo Gaffney. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations are requested in his name for the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Leitrim Society.
