She was predeceased by: her husband Robert P. "Elliot" Powers; her parents, Patrick J. McCarthy and Rose E. McCarthy (O'Donnell); and her brother James P. McCarthy. She is survived by: her children, Rosemary J. Powers (Robert Eastman) of Dorchester, Trish C. Powers (James "Jim" Alves) of Braintree, Kevin R. (Julie Powers) of Peabody, Robert P. Powers of Dorchester and Caroline Powers (Brian Hearing) of Falls Church, VA.; her grandchildren, Tierney Flaherty (Dan Hoffer), Colm Flaherty (Filippa Nilsson), Brendan, Kelli, Erin, Tara Powers, Rose and Eleanor "Ellie" Hearing; her great grandchild Ronan Patrick Hoffer; her sister Rosemary (David Gilmartin) of Dorchester; and her sister-in-law Mary McCarthy of Milton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
