He was predeceased by: his parents, Beatrice A. Desmarais (Charette-McCarthy) and Edmond H. Desmarais; his sister Judith Erekson; and his brothers-in-law, Paul and Dennis Bisson.
He is survived by: his wife Michelle M. Desmarais (Bisson); his children, James A. Desmarais, Jr. (Roxanne) of Dracut and Lisa Milinazzo (David Cremin) of Dracut; and his grandchildren, Andrew Desmarais (Haley Flynn), Anthony Milinazzo, Angelina Milinazzo, Calvin Desmarais, Brock Desmarais and Vincent Milinazzo.
