He was predeceased by: his father Francis J. Smith; and his sister Robin Marie Smith. He is survived by: his mother Dorothea M. Smith (Mendes); and his siblings, Lawrence Smith (Nancy) of Brockton, Francis Smith (Lynne) of East Taunton, Debra Smith of Fall River and Kevin Smith (Joanie) of Brookline. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
