Robert J. Kotfila Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Robert J. Kotfila of Easthampton, Massachusetts, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 17, 2026 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Kotfila and Mae Kotfila (Spinks); his mother-in-law Lucille LaBonte (Dame); his son-in-law Jeffrey McCarthy; his grandson Deputy Sheriff John R. Kotfila, Jr.; his siblings, Raymond Kotfila, Judith Wall, Gail Kotfila and Thomas Kotfila; and his in-laws, Stanley Whitacre, Cheryl LaBonte and Denise Provost.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine T. Kotfila (LaBonte); his children, John R. Kotfila (Theresa) of East Falmouth, MA, Michelle A. McCarthy of Newport News, VA, Robert C. Kotfila of Colorado Springs, CO, Mary Kay Benge (Kelvin) of Newport News, VA and Daniel B. Burnette (Michelle) of South Hadley; his grandchildren, Michael Kotfila, Katlyn Grace Kotfila, Patrick Kotfila (Bridget Gavin), Robert Anderson, Courtney Rish (Derek), Brittany McCarthy (Ish Lopez), Shannon McCarthy (Gabe Ramos), Amanda Benge (Tyler Ball), Ashley Benge (Cillian Cotter), Jack Burnette (Jaysona) and Matthew Burnette; his great grandchildren, Maren, Hailey, Tessa, Amir, Theo, Enzo and Bryce; his sisters-in-law, Joan Kotfila of Springfield and Rose Kotfila of Chicopee; and his in-laws, Diane Whitacre of Holyoke, George LaBonte of Rockledge, FL, Suzanne Beaumier of Chicopee, Robert LaBonte (Cheryl) of Melbourne, FL and Dennis Provost of Chicopee. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 26th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Funeral Home Parking Lot and Main Entrance Are (20 Lafayette St, Chicopee, MA 01020). A celebration of life was held on Monday, April 27th 2026 at 8:00 AM at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (13 Dale St, Chicopee, MA 01020). The military honors was held on Monday, April 27th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery (1390 Main St, Agawam, MA 01001).
