He was predeceased by: his parents, Therese E. Gauthier (Bertrand) and Alfred L. Gauthier; his sister Elaine G. Motta; and his nephew Owen Motta. He is survived by: his wife Sheila M. Dorgan; his daughter Meaghan Doucette; his son-in-law Greg Doucette; his grandchildren, Mason and Malia Doucette; his sisters, Suzanne T. Gauthier and Celeste C. Gauthier (David Touchette); his foster sister Irene Mescal; his brother-in-law David Motta; his niece Chelsea Fonseca (Zach Fonseca); his brother-in-law Robert Dorgan; and his nieces and nephews, Bridget Durant (Cameron Durant), Daniel Dorgan, Kevin Dorgan and Hillary Dorgan. He is also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Eric Fernandes Memorial Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships for higher education for children of members of the New Bedford Fire Department.
