He was predeceased by: his father Joaquim Barbosa; and his sister Maria Alice Barbosa. He is survived by: his spouse Margarida Barbosa (Costa); his mother Valentina Barbosa (Raposo); his daughters, Sandra Melo (Michael) and Ashley Barbosa; and his siblings, Antero "Ted" Barbosa (Esmenia) and Judy Vidinha (José). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
