He was predeceased by: his wife Maria Mendes (Chousa); his parents, Joao Mendes and Custodia Pereira; and his brother Alberto Pereira. He is survived by: his children, Antonio Mendes and Maria Alice (Santos); his grandchildren, Evonne Mendes Carvalho, Alex and Santos; and his great grandchildren, Brielle Carvalho, Pearl and Santos. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
