He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Dores and Maria Dos Dores (Raposo) of Melo; and his siblings, Manuel (Rosa) of Melo, Adelaide Sousa (Antônio), Helena Nogueira (Carlos) and José (Maria) of Melo.
He is survived by: his wife Ana Maria (Resendes) of Melo; his sons, Derrick DeMelo (Jessica) of Fall River and Ryan DeMelo (Jillian) of Weymouth; his grandsons, Jack and Luca DeMelo; and his brothers, João (Maria) of Melo and Antônio Gil Tavares (Luísa) of Fall River. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
