He is survived by: his wife Michelle Ann Drapeau Portela; his children, Jeffrey Thomas Portela Jr., Amanda Drapeau, Alysha Drapeau and Ashley Borges; his sibling's children, Joseph J. Reis IV, Chad A. Sunderland, Adam T. Sunderland and Dawn Bernard; and his cousin Susan Haskell. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
