He was predeceased by: his parents, Antone Tavares and Zelma Martin Tavares. He is survived by: his wife Patti; his sons, Kenneth M. Tavares, Jr. of South Carolina and Daniel Nash of Michigan; his granddaughter Delilah Nash; and his pet Boomer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Savealab Rhode Island where he rescued his beloved Boomer or to the Alzheimer's Association.

“I am very sad and hope that Patti is doing as well as can be expected. Kenny was lucky to have such a supportive wife, he talked of her often. We shared so many common things, Harleys, hunting, Guns, old cars, and we were proud of our military service. I especially enjoyed our hunts together, on prudence Island and when he came over to Narragansett. Kenny was insanely funny to. He and I had great conversations. He helped me many times, I will miss my friend Kenny. Rod santos”
