Mary F (Cumbus Chappron) Costa Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary F (Cumbus Chappron) Costa (Fall River, Massachusetts), born in Taunton, Massachusetts, who passed away on April 15, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. Mary passed away at home after a long fought battle with cancer. She was the wife of retired Taunton FIrefighter Richard Costa and daughter of the late Clyde M. Cumbus Sr. and Eva (Mendes) Cumbus. She is survived by a son Peter Chappron and his wife Debbie of Berkley and a daughter Lisa Cotell of Taunton, and Step mother to Corinna Martell of Taunton and Ryan Costa of Plymouth. She was the proud grandmother of 5 grand-daughters, 2 grandsons and 1 great grandson. She also leaves 2 brothers, Wayne (Lefty) Cumbus and his wife Julie, and Clyde (Buddy) Cumbus, Jr. both of Taunton. Mary retired in 2000 from Paul A. Dever State School where she was a caretaker for 34 years. She and her husband moved to Florida where they enjoyed the sunny weather, traveling, golf, Disney World, Nascar racing and many friends. She got bored of retirement and retuned to work part-time at Progressive Care of Port Charlotte, FL.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the PACC (School St., Taunton, Massachusetts 02780).
