He was predeceased by: his parents, James M. and Joan M. (Sullivan); and his parents-in-law, Harley and Barbara A. (Cronin) Ostis. He is survived by: his wife Stephanie (Ostis) McGowan of Mansfield; his children, Ryanne Catherine and Harley James McGowan of Foxboro; his siblings, Catherine McGowan Kent Kent of Newton, Kevin McGowan (Kathy) of Mansfield and John McGowan (Yvonne) of Norwood; his sister-in-law Stacy Ostis (late David) of Foxboro; his close friend James Artz (Megan) of Norton; his nieces and nephews, Annabella, Chloe Ostis, Kaitlyn, Kelly McGowan, John, Patrick and Michael McGowan; his godson Jake Artz; and also, JD and Maddie.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy's memory may be made to The League School of Greater Boston, where his son Harley has been a student since 2017.
