We announce the death of Michael P. Krochta of Framingham, Massachusetts, who passed away on September 17, 2026, at the age of 70. Michael will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Michael will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Michael will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Michael’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Krochta and Ilaria Ivanchenko Krochta. He is survived by: his sister Tanya Krochta; his brother-in-law Fred Panetto; his nieces, Allegra Panetto (Ben Siegelman) and Ava Panetto (Oleh Shostak); his nephew Elgin Panetto (Allison Guggenheimer); his great-nephew Charles Panetto; and his great-niece Billie Siegelman.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 9:30 AM and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral (15 E 97th St, New York, NY 10029).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's memory to the Williamstown Art Conservation Center (williamstownart.org), a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and caring for works of art in his favorite place growing up.
