He was predeceased by: his parents, Khatoun Shina and Gourgi Shina; and his sister Gladys. He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Shina (Marks); his children, Mike Shina (Robyn), Gail Browne (Michael), Nancy Shina (Dan) and Jonathan Shina (Tricia); his grandchildren, Riordan Shina, Isaac Browne, Beverly Browne, Nolan Shina, Jessie Aguirre, Piper Browne, Matthew Aguirre, Benji Aguirre and Alex Shina; and his siblings, Lily, Daisy, Vivienne, Nadia and Alfred.
