He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl G. Thompson and Helen Thompson (Barnard); his wife Catherine "Buffy" Thompson (Conlon); his sisters, Mary K. Thompson, Jacqueline'Lee'Carlson and P. Dayle Kohut; and his children, Patrick Thompson and Erin Livingston.

He is survived by: his children, Sean Thompson of Georgetown, Brian Thompson of Sheffield, Suzanne Ramos of Orlando, FL and Kelly Stronach of Haverhill. He is also survived by grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
