Alicia Padre Obituary
Alicia Padre, 82, passed away on January 1st, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Alcides and Julia Padre.
Alicia was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and took an active interest in the city zoning laws and process. She attended Gloucester Public Schools and went on to Salem State College to earn her Master's Degree in Remedial Reading. She taught at West Parish, St. Ann's, Pigeon Cove, and Rockport Schools. In addition to the basics, Alicia spent decades teaching elementary school students the love of reading and nature, impressing upon them that if they could read, they could do just about anything. She retired in 2010 and was well known for her dedication, kindness, and generosity. Aside from a teaching degree, she also had a Real Estate Broker's license and was a member of the Massachusetts Teacher's Association and the Arbor Day Foundation.
Alicia enjoyed crafting but was happiest when she was outdoors doing yard work, gardening, or spending time with her nieces at playgrounds, hiking in the woods or at the beach.
She is survived by her sisters Jane (David) Cusick, and Judith McKinnon; brother-in-law Richard Guarrasi; and nieces Joanna Lynn McKinnon, and Amanda (Robert) Ferrari and their daughters, Brielle and Ava. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Linda Guarrasi.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Rockport Christmas Tree Committee (c/o the Rockport Branch of the Cape Ann Savings Bank), St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (P.O Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929) or to a charity of one's choice.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
