Andrew J. Porter Obituary

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, and friend Andrew John Porter, 44 years young of Rockport and Gloucester who left us far too soon on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Andrew was a devoted husband to the love of his life Alison (Militello). Porter with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. May 28, 2025 would have marked their 14th year of marriage. This is a testament to a beautiful partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering support. He was a proud and loving father to his two adoring daughters Mackenzie and Raegan, who were truly the center of his world. He was Mister Mom but he would deny it but always said it with a huge smile. Andrew often said his whole life was -and always would be - his wife and children.

Born to Cathy (Anderson) and Jack Porter, Andrew was a caring and deeply devoted son. He was also the big, protective brother to his sister Lyndsay, with whom he shared a lifelong bond of love, laughter, and friendship and shenanigans. He was predeceased by his loving Grandmothers, Nana and GG.

Andrew had a special connection with his In-laws Sam and Kathy Militello, Grandmothers Ann Militello and Jean Curley, Sister-in-law Sara Militello, brother-in-law Michael Rushing and niece Logan Rushing all of whom loved having him as part of their family.

Andrew served the town of Rockport with immense pride and dedication as a volunteer fire Captain for 25 years. He wasn't just a part of the fire department- he was the glue that held it together. His leadership, courage, and compassion has left an indelible mark on the dept and the entire community.

To those who knew him, Andrew was more than just a family man and public servant. He was the truest kind of friend - reliable, warm-hearted and always ready with a helping hand.

He was a best friend to many, and his presence lit up every room he entered. He leaves behind many dear friends including Jason, Mike, John Boy, Phil, Joe, Jake, Brian, his special Hurricane (Nikit) and countless others who were blessed to share life's moments with him.

Andrew also held a special place in heart for his goddaughters TT and Callie and godson Cameron, all of whom brought him great joy. His Godfather Hey Boy, Aunt Karin, Godmother Donna and many other Aunts, Uncles, Cousins including his special Aunt Susan.

Andrew lived his life with integrity, kindness, and a fierce love for his family and community.

He was loved deeply, respected widely, and will be missed beyond words. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those that loved him.

Visiting hours will be held at the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 11 am to 3 pm.
