Anna Sanfilippo Obituary
Anna Sanfilippo of Gloucester wife of Nicolo Sanfilippo passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Anna was born in Sciacca Sicily, Italy on March 20th, 1941, daughter of the late Accursio and Rosa (Marino) Sanfilippo. Anna moved to the United States in 1953. She met and married Nicolo Sanfilippo in 1959. She was a devoted wife and mother of six. She took pride in running her household and the family businesses. She was happiest with a full house, where she made everyone feel welcomed with her amazing Sicilian cooking. Everyone loved her pasta, pizza, and cookies. The 3rd of July parade was a huge event at the Sanfilippo home, everyone looked forward to Anna's cooking and there are so many amazing memories that will not be forgotten. Anna had a love for flowers and a passion for gardening. Her homes in Gloucester & Florida were always beautifully groomed. Anna was also a member of the Madonna Del Rosario society. We will always remember her beautiful smile with her classic red lipstick and nails. Whether at home with her family or out to a festive event Anna always looked her best. Anna was a smart, loving, and courageous woman. We are so very thankful for her strength. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anna is survived by her husband Nicolo, whom she shared 63 years of marriage with and their six children, son Dominic, his wife Carol, and their three children, Analise, Christina (wife of Ryan) and Michael; son Accursio, his wife Susan, and their four children, Nicole, Accursio Jr. (wife Cate), Nina, and Leah; son, Samuel, his wife Jo-Ann, and their two children Samantha & Nicolas; son, Anthony "Nino", his wife Rosalie, and their two daughters Gianna & Talia; son, Joseph, his companion Tiffany, and his children Sarah (wife of Josh), James, and Julia and their mother, Phyllis; daughter Enza, and her husband Greg Iacano and their children Annabella & Louis; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Austin, Henry, Caleb, Malcolm; her brothers, Antonino Sanfilippo, husband of Lillian; Charles Sanfilippo, husband of Caterina; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Sanfilippo; brothers-in law, Antonino Sanfilippo husband of Fina, Frank Sanfilippo husband of Maria, John Sanfilippo husband of Angel; sisters-in-law, Girolama Melodia, Giuseppa Sanfilippo, Girolama Sanfilippo and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Josephine Margiotta wife of Accursio, Flavia Bivona wife of Calogero, Angela Graffeo wife of Giuseppe, Lila Baldassano wife of Giuseppe; brother, Accursio Sanfilippo; brother, Ignazio Sanfilippo, and his wife Maria; sisters-in-law, Dora Girolando wife of Salvatore, Maria D'Amico wife of Stefano; brothers-in-law, Simone Sanfilippo, Giuseppe Sanfilippo, Giuseppe Melodia; her in-laws, Dominic, and Vincenza (Zizzo) Sanfilippo.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear face coverings during Mass. The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
