Barbara A. Rose Obituary
Barbara A. Rose, age 95, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Annie and Joseph Rose of Gloucester.
Barbara graduated from Gloucester High School Class of 1946. She then went on to further her education and graduated from Burdette Secretarial School in Boston and lived for many years in Beacon Hill.
Barb first worked for the State of Massachusetts for the Department of Mental Health followed by the Office of the Attorney General Elliot Richardson, and as Private Administrator to Arthur T. Lyman, commissioner of Corrections and Natural Resources.
Her life was one of a much-loved aunt who had positive life influences over her niece and nephews, exposing them to great music, skiing, tennis, golf, and gardening. As a young woman she hiked and skied in New Hampshire on weekends and continued to be active throughout her life.
She was delighted to receive a 50-year pin from the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
She will be forever in our hearts, survived by her sister Margaret Guest; her niece Susan Guest-McPhail; nephews Tim Guest, and Ralph, Clifford, David, and James Amero and their families.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister Priscilla Amero of Magnolia.
In keeping with Barbara's wishes, services will be private.
Arrangements by Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA.
