Berta L. Silva Obituary
Berta (Lima) Silva, 96, of Gloucester, beloved wife of the late Alfredo Silva passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at her home in the presence of her loving family.
She was born April 5, 1926, in Sao Mateus, Pico, Azores to Sebastiao and Rosaria Lima. She immigrated to the US with her family on July 20, 1966. She enjoyed a long career at Gorton's of Gloucester where she made many lifelong friends.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved holding the babies in her arms, it brought a big smile to her face that lit up the room.
She enjoyed crocheting and made tablecloths, curtains and many other beautiful items for her family, which they will treasure forever.
She is survived by her children, Maria B. Bagaco (Carlos), Fernando M. Silva (Kathleen) and Rosa M. Keenan (Timothy), her grandchildren, Lisa M. Lewis (Jed), Roberto C. Bagaco (Mary), Jacqueline M. Mortillaro (Mimmo), Jeffrey W. Silva (Emily), Kelsey M. D'Angelo (Brian), Megan R. Keenan and her fiancé, Zach Blomerth, and Karina L. Keenan, her great grandchildren, Vander & Phoenix Lewis, Cash Mortillaro, Jacob & Aria D'Angelo.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfredo Silva and her brothers and sisters, Manuel, Sebastiao, Jose, Antonio, Maria, Rosa and Luisa.
Berta's visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester, on Friday, February 10, from 5-7p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, (Holy Family Parish) 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester, on Saturday, February 11, at 9:30a.m. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
