Carmelina Lo Vetere Obituary
Carmelina Lo Vetere, 86, of Gloucester, wife of the late Giuseppe Bentivegna passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Santa Caterina, Sicily, Italy on February 3, 1936, daughter of the late Francesco Lo Vetere and Letzia Carapezza.
Carmelina came to the U. S. in 2015. She loved cooking, especially her favorite specialties and cleaning. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carmelina is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Paola Sclafani and her husband Frank, Letzia Bentivegna; grandchildren, Giuseppe Sclafani and his wife Melissa, Anthony Sclafani and his wife Lauren, Joanne Purdy and her husband Brian, Ezio Bongiorno, Giuseppe Bongiorno, Francesco Bongiorno and Chiara Bongiorno; great-grandchildren, Lilliana Sclafani, Giuseppe Briguglio, Mila Sclafani and Anthony Sclafani; her sister, Graziella Lo Vetere and her husband Achilles.
She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Letzia and Rosa Lo Vetere; 2 brothers, Francesco and Antonino Lo Vetere.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. All attendees are required to wear face coverings during Mass.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no visiting hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
