Catherine Ann Porter Obituary
Catherine A. Porter, age 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was the wife of William P. Porter, with whom she shared 45 cherished years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester, Catherine was the daughter of Catherine "Katie" Perry. She attended Gloucester public schools, graduating from Gloucester High School in 1976. After high school, Catherine married William and they went on to create a beautiful life together. Once their two children were born, Catherine became a stay-at-home mother who was very active in their schools and extracurricular activities. As a stay-at-home mom, Catherine was able to hone her baking skills and was an extremely talented baker and cake decorator and she often shared her skills when creating her culinary specialties for any occasion for her family and friends. She also loved travelling with her family and their vacations to Disney World.
Catherine made it a priority to spend time every day with her mom at the Rose Baker Senior Center. Her family and husband William meant everything to her. She eventually became a grandmother and was given her favorite title of "Mimi" by her grandchildren who she loved and adored unconditionally.
Catherine was a major part of the Porter family and her physical passing has left a hole that will never be filled, but left our hearts filled with a love that can never be matched.
In addition to her husband and her mother, Catherine is survived by her two children, Melissa Porter and her fiancé Dana A. Uzzell, and William L. Porter and his wife Samantha Rose; her grandchildren, Joseph W. Porter, Chloe "Charlie" V. Uzzell, Sophie L. Uzzell, Evan M. Porter and Noah L. Porter.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in the Greely Funeral Home at 10 a.m. followed by a burial at Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
