Catherine Ciolino Obituary
Catherine "Katy" Ciolino 88, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, October 7th. She was the daughter of the late Catherine (Orlando) and Serafino Favaloro and was born on April 19th, 1933. She was named and baptized as Elizabeth Rosalie. When her mother became ill, she asked her best friend and sister-in-law to take care of her baby girl.
Frank and Jennie Sabato loved and raised her as their own. She was called Katy out of respect for her mother. When she was confirmed, she took the name Catherine and her name was Catherine Elizabeth Rosalie Favalora. She worked for Gus Chekaris Insurance Agency until the birth of her third child. Then she worked at the family business – Ciolino's Pharmacy until it closed in 1992.
She prided herself on raising six children. She was active with St. Ann's school PTA, being a room mother, taught 2nd grade Sunday school for many years, and bingo. She enjoyed her Thursday knitting and crocheting club. She was active in the St. Ann's Women's Guild and belong to the "Shower girls club". Katy also worked many years at Karem's Army and Navy store on Main Street.
She is survived by her husband Salvatore of 63 years; three daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and her husband Paul Frontiero, Jennie Marie and her husband Chuck Psalidas, Elizabeth and her husband Wain Olson; three sons, Domenic Ciolino, Frank and his wife Barbara Jean and James and his wife Julie; grandsons, Salvatore, James and Christopher Frontiero, Andrew Psalidas and his wife Lindsey, Jason, Anthony and Nicholas Psalidas, Joseph Ciolino, Salvatore, Stephen and Michael Ciolino, Thomas and Jonathan Olson; granddaughters, Alexandria Psalidas, Mikayla Ciolino, Elizabeth Catalini and her fiancé Bobby Chavez, Nicole Alves and her husband Dave; great-granddaughters, Chloe, Quinn and Cali Psalidas and Emilia Rose Chavez; sister, Lena Marie Anderson; brother, Leo Sabato, and brother-in-law, Gaspar Interrante; her in laws , Joseph Ciolino, Anthony and Josephine Ciolino, Gaetano and MaryGrace Brancaleone; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her three brothers and their wives, Salvatore "Sonny" and Evelyn Favaloro, Joseph and Julie Favaloro and Serafino "Sophie" and Mary Favaloro; stepmother, Elizabeth "Betty" Favaloro; sisters, Josephine and her husband Fred Sallah, Sarah Interrante; sisters-in-law, Grace Ciolino and Rosalie Sabato; brother-in-law, John Anderson; nephews, Larry Sabato, Gaspar and Frank Interrante and niece Paula Jean Favaloro.
She was also predeceased by her grandson, Paul Frontiero III. The family would like to thank Dr. Pearce and Care Dimensions of North Shore for your continued care and support. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Tuesday, October 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. All attendees are requested to wear face coverings during both visiting hours and church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish, 60 Prospect Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
