David L. Hickory Obituary

David L. Hickory, 79, of Gloucester passed away on November 10, 2021, at Seacoast Nursing Home. He was born in Kankakee, IL to the late Louis and Gertrude Hickory. He was married to his late wife Judith for over 47 years.

Dave is survived by his brother Alan Hickory of Kankakee, IL; brother-in-law Dana and Nancy Silva of Gloucester; Paul and Suzanne Scola of Gloucester; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Judith, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Richard Silva Jr.

Dave was a proud Navy veteran. He was a skilled carpenter, building his first boat, a prolific reader and movie watcher, and dog lover. He was an avid runner, having logged 100 miles a week at one time and running road races around the country. Dave worked at Gloucester Engineering for over 40 years and was a foreman when he retired. In retirement he and Judy enjoyed living on their boat with their dogs in both Maine and Rhode Island, where he appreciated time with good friends, good food and good scotch.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no memorial service. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester.
