David A. Roach Jr. Obituary
David A. Roach Jr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
A graduate of UMass Amherst with a Master's degree in Marine Biology, David's love of the ocean was a defining part of his life. He worked for many years on the South shore of Massachusetts, before ultimately settling in Gloucester, where he continued his career with the National Marine Fisheries.
It was in Gloucester that David met the love of his life, Kate. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Some of their favorite times were family tropical vacations with Meaghan, John, and the boys, visits from Sharon, Frank, Shelly and Patrick with their families, leisurely strolls along the Boulevard with their beloved dogs, and enjoying Gloucester's vibrant local restaurant scene.
David's greatest joy in life was his two grandchildren, Jackson and Reese. He treasured every moment with them, sharing stories -especially the World War II stories of his father—and making sure there was always a full bowl of ice cream waiting for them.
David was also a loving and devoted husband and caretaker to Kate throughout her many years of illness. His unwavering love, strength, and dedication were a testament to the depth of their bond.
David will be remembered for his love of the ocean, his devotion to his family, his generous spirit, and the many special memories he created with those he loved. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
David is survived by Meaghan Harnish and husband John Harnish of Gloucester; grandsons, Jackson and Reese Harnish of Gloucester; Shelly, Patrick and Grant Seburn of Virginia; Sharon, Frank, Jillian and Frankie Samsock of Florida; and sister Cheryl Roach and partner Isiah Palmore of Florida.
He is predecessed by his wife Catherine (Doyle) Roach of Gloucester and his mother and father Lillian (Rooney) Roach and David Roach Sr. of Westwood, MA.
The family will be having a private ceremony at a later date.
