Diane C. Curtis-Sances Obituary

In Loving Memory of Diane (Luster) Curtis-SancesBeloved Matriarch, Mother, and GrandmotherDiane (Luster) Curtis-Sances, beloved SITTIE, age 87, passed away peacefully in her home on 11/1/2025, surrounded by the love, laughter, and warmth of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren — the very legacy she spent her life building.

Though an only child, Diane grew up surrounded by the love, values, and music of her large Lebanese extended family. Born and raised in Gloucester, MA, those early years, filled with faith, laughter, and the joyful sound of relatives gathering, shaped the woman she became -– one who understood that family is both our foundation and our greatest blessing.

Diane often dreamed of having a big, bustling family of her own. Through a lifetime of love, faith, and generosity, she brought that dream to life in the most beautiful way. She is the devoted mother of seven children; Roseanne and Bruce Rawan, Terry and Lohi Curtis, the late Malia Kawas, Karen and Mitchell Kaltsunas, Monica Bassila and Bruce Savage, Cheray Kaddoura and Ted Cioppa, and Peter Curtis. Predeceased by her parents Peter J. Luster and Dorothy P. (Tarr) Luster Nugent, husbands Terry Curtis and Paul Sances, and her son-in-law Michael Bassila. Cherished second mother to Cheryl, Philip, Doreen, and Helen Matta, James and Daniel Stewart, and Roseli Assuncao.

Her heart and home overflowed with love for her grandchildren; Mireille and Kelly, Teresa, Monique, Oomiya and Tia, Alexander, Leyla and Charles, Adam, Elias and Ashley, Kahleel, Delia, Terry, Dante, Olohiremen, Sean, Allissa, Stephen, Louis, Rachel, Andrew, Michael, Nicole, and Billie; 13 precious great-grandchildren, each one a unique light in her life and a living testament to the family she so lovingly built.

Sittie's story is one of grace, strength, and endless giving. Her home was a sanctuary where everyone felt welcome, and where every celebration, big or small, was made special by her touch. Those who knew Sittie will remember her deep compassion and her unwavering devotion to her family. She was a force to be reckoned with, the heart and soul of her family, and a constant source of wisdom and unconditional love. Her life reminds us that true wealth is found not in what we have, but in whom we love. Her spirit will live on through every story told, every recipe passed down, and every gathering that brings her family together — just as she always wanted.

The family extends their deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to all the incredible people who cared for Sittie; the team at Tides Hospice and Donna Duggan.

Forever in our hearts, she rests surrounded by the love she created — her greatest masterpiece.
