Edward C. Kirmes Obituary

Edward (Ed) Charles Kirmes, 68, of Gloucester, MA, beloved husband of the late Brenda Kirmes, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026. Born in Somerville, MA on August 9, 1957, he was the son of Jack and Margaret Kirmes.

Edward loved spending his time going on adventures with his wife Brenda including going to the casino and playing bingo. Every Sunday he would come to his son's house to watch the Pats Game. He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, going to Hampton Beach, pretty much anything that would get him out of the house.

He was able to accomplish many things in his life. One of his biggest accomplishments was becoming sober. He was able to retire and enjoy life. He loved driving and being able to watch his grandchildren aka his little monsters.

Edward is survived by his children and grandchildren, Kimberly (Kirmes) Malave and Shawn Kirmes and his wife Jennifer. He leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, Christefer Malave, Jeramy Barry, Arron Barry, Connor Kirmes and Myles Kirmes, who brought him endless joy.

Edward is already deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors and card buddies. His memories will have lasting impact on us all forever. He is a husband, a father, a brother, a son, a grandfather but most important, a best friend. His love for his family runs true and deep.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
