Elizabeth A. Serpa Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Serpa, 86, of Gloucester, MA, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, May 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Roger M. Corbin of Gloucester, MA. Liz and Roger were together for 53 years before her passing. Liz worked at Gloucester Housing Authority most recently until retiring. Born on April 7, 1940, in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (McLellan) McCarthy and Chester Brown.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Meroth, and her sister, Stephanie Hannon and her first husband, Robert Serpa.

Liz is survived by her husband Roger M. Corbin; her sons Scott Serpa of Chelmsford, MA and Barry Serpa (Melanie) of Westerville, OH; her daughters, Karen Shooni (Mazin), of Nashua, NH and Lynne Lirette (Michel), of Lancaster, MA; her grandsons Brendan Serpa of Marysville, OH, Beau Lirette (Kristina) of Clinton, MA and Gregory Serpa (Emily) of Dublin, OH; and her cherished great-grandsons, Theodore Serpa and Bennett Serpa.

She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Liz maintained a number of close friends and neighbors that she loved and spent time with (virtually or in person) every day. She made sure that everyone knew that she was a friend who would be there to help in any way she could. She loved to interact with people and to socialize (wine parties with friends and neighbors!) and was always ready to go out to a seafood dinner.

She loved her Boston sports teams, and was most focused on the Red Sox and Bruins, and was always hopeful for a championship year for either team.

The family would like to thank the team of medical professionals at Addison Gilbert Hospital and at the Critical Care Unit at Beverly Hospital for their professionalism and sensitivity in caring for Liz through this most difficult time.
