Evelyn S. Melei Obituary

Evelyn (Sadler) Melei passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester. She was the wife of the late Rudolph Melei.

Evelyn was born in Gloucester, MA on February 18, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth (McGowan) Sadler. She graduated from Gloucester High School in 1965 and then worked locally for Mighty Mac and Gorton's of Gloucester as a bookkeeper.

Evelyn loved many animals, always having a dog and at least two cats around the house. She enjoyed knitting and oil painting, having completed some large, beautiful paintings still owned by her family. She also enjoyed floral design and all kinds of crafts that she and her daughter Brenda made together. The two of them took many trips and cruises to Florida and beyond. She was a generous, kind and gentle person who will be missed by those who knew and loved her. She had many painful crisis in life which were very difficult for her, but she is now at rest and at home in heaven with her glorious Savior.

Many thanks to the dialysis center in Beverly and the Seacoast staff for their great patience and kindness to her.

Evelyn is survived by her loving brother, Ernest L. Sadler; her sister-in-law Valerie Sadler; brother-in-law Roger Lee and her cousin Kayla. She also is survived by cousins Melanie Johnson, Andrea Mills, Joy Jaramillo and several other cousins.

She was predeceased by her first husband Arthur Lee; infant son Eric Dean Lee; her daughter Brenda Lee; second husband Rudolph Melei and both her parents.

A private graveside burial and a memorial service for her and Brenda will be held on a later date. Arrangements are by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester.
