Frances K. Biondo Obituary
Frances K. (Lafata) Biondo, 89, of Gloucester, MA wife of the late Capt. Stephen J. Biondo, passed away on July 14th at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Gloucester on December 28, 1933. Frances was the daughter of the late Baptista and Katherine (Sinagra) Lafata.
Frances attended Gloucester Schools. She grew up down the Fort building many childhood memories. Some of her most cherished memories were spending time with her mother, who was like gold to her. She was the matriarch of the family, helping to raise her siblings. In her younger years she worked for North Atlantic Fisheries and later for Gorton's of Gloucester as a fish packer.
Frances married the love of her life. They shared 44 wonderful years of marriage and were inseparable. She adored her beautiful family. Her children were her world. Frances enjoyed spending time by her pool, watching her family swim and laugh, including her granddaughter and great grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Frances loved the holidays, baking, and especially cooking Sunday dinners for her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Frances opened her home to many family and friends on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. No one left her house hungry.
Frances will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Biondo; daughter, Rosanne McHenry, and her husband Christopher; granddaughter, Shannon Borowski, and her husband James Michael; 2 great-grandchildren, Joie Marie Borowski and Wyatt James Borowski; brothers, Gaspar Lafata and his wife Sue, Joseph Lafata and his wife Holly; sisters-in-law, Pimie Biondo, Connie Marino and Regina Philbrook; brother-in-law, Lenny Biondo and his wife Elizabeth; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Frances was predeceased by sisters, Rose Jesseph and her husband Sonny, Gloria Gill and her husband Ed; brother, Carlo Lafata and his wife Rosalie; sister-in-law Betty Lafata; brothers-in-law, Larry Scola and his wife Jennie, Gino Biondo, Frank Marino and Charlie Philbrook; nephew Joseph E. (J.B.) Biondo.
Frances's funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Church, Holy Family Parish, 60 Prospect Street, Gloucester, on Thursday, July 20th at 11:00 a.m. Her burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
