Giovanna Sclafani Obituary
Giovanna (Puleo) Sclafani, 96, of Gloucester wife of the late Giuseppe Sclafani passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born ins Sciacca, Sicily, Italy on September 22, 1925, daughter of the late Francesco and Giuseppa (Pintacuda) Puleo.
Giovanna attended schools in Italy. She came to the U.S. in 1971 and made a great life here for her family. She was a very loving and dedicated wife. Giovanna was very spiritual, who prayed a lot and read the Bible religiously.
She loved cooking her favorite meals and Sunday dinners for her big family. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Giovanna is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Sanfilippo; sons, Gaspare Sclafani and his wife Josephine, Francesco Sclafani and his wife Paola, Accursio Sclafani and his wife Julie; grandchildren, Roseanne Sutera, Joanne Cromosini and her husband Cesare, Accursio "Gus" Sanfilippo and his wife Melissa, Giselle Guyotte and her husband Jeremy, Michael Sclafani, Cristina Sclafani, Giuseppe Sclafani and his wife Melissa, Anthony Sclafani and his wife Lauren, Joanne Purdy and her husband Brian, Joseph Sclafani and his wife Melissa, Joanna Numerosi and her husband Salvatore and Salvatore Sclafani; 26 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way; sisters, Antonia Puleo, Maria Puleo, Francesca Puleo, Santina Antona and Accussia Puleo; brothers, Salvatore Puleo, Antonino Puleo and Biagio Puleo.
She was predeceased by 2 infant sons; son-in-law, Accursio Sanfilippo; grandson, Joey Sclafani and a sister, Caterina Puleo.
Her. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Assembly of God Church, 211 Washington Street, Gloucester, MA. The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Wednesday prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Relative and friends are cordially invited to attend.
