Grace Mione Obituary
Grace (Vegliano) Mione, 97, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024. She was born in Gloucester, MA on October 16, 1926, and was daughter to Captain Ernest Vegliano and Rose (Scola) Vegliano. She was fortunate to celebrate 70 happy years of marriage with her husband Leo, who passed away on April 20, 2017.Grace and Leo had 2 children, Christine, wife of Ronald Rutchick, and Peter, husband of John Clement. Grace lived for many years in Gloucester before she and Leo retired to St. Augustine, Florida for over 3 decades before settling in Newburyport, MA for their final years.
Grace enjoyed dancing, baking, and most of all laughing. She was well known for her lemon meringue pies and shared her technique for making delectable pie crusts with many friends and relatives over the years. She loved music and especially enjoyed listening to the songs of Al Martino, Tony Bennett, and Jerry Vale.
She is survived by her children as well as by grandchildren, Abraham Rutchick and wife Rebecca as well as Elisabeth Reickert and husband Brian. Grace is also survived by great- grandchildren, Dexter Reickert, Leo Rutchick, and Ruby Rutchick. Survivors also include Grace's sisters, Rose Mendes, Antoinette Warren, and Elizabeth Kennie as well as many nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by brothers, Frank, and Sebastian; sisters, Margaret Ragusa, Josephine Langley, Mary Ciaramitaro, and Vincie Re.
The family wants to express their deep appreciation for the loving and attentive care received by the amazing staff of caretakers at Port Healthcare in Newburyport and to the team from Harborside Hospice. All of these remarkable people contributed to Grace's happiness while she resided at Port Healthcare for the last 16 months. We will be eternally grateful.
In keeping with Grace's wishes there will be no visiting hours.
