Ida N. Spinola Obituary
Ida Spinola, of Gloucester, MA, passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2026, with her loving son Domenic by her side. Born on March 21, 1937, in Gloucester, MA, Ida was the daughter of Cosimo Parco and Catherine (Orlando) Parco. Her role was the heart of the family-raising her children, supporting her husband's demanding work as a commercial fisherman, and ensuring that home was always a place of comfort and warmth. She was known for fantastic cooking, her home was always open to everyone, especially on holidays and for other celebrations.
Family was always her greatest pride. She cherished time spent together, creating traditions and memories that will live on forever. Her laughter filled rooms, her guidance shaped lives and her compassion touched everyone she met. Ida lived a life guided by religion, compassion, creativity, and service to her family and friends. Later in life she contributed her talents and creativity by joining the Rose Baker Senior Center, in Gloucester, where she built friendships and continued giving back to her community.
Some of the projects she was involved in were From Sea to Shining Sea quilt project, honoring families by the events on September 11th, Have a Heart project, handmaking over 100 dolls donated to critically ill children and Open Door Food Pantry, where she lovingly painted bowls to benefit those in need. She will be remembered for her warm heart, creative spirit, and the many ways she quietly touched the lives of others. She married the love of her life, Emilio Spinola, on 11/25/1956 in Gloucester, sharing nearly 68 years of marriage.
Together, Ida and "Captain Memo" enjoyed countless weekends spent with friends and family. Ida is predeceased by her beloved husband, Emilio and survived by her grown children; Stephanie Jackson and her partner Theodore Nigro, Cathy Aiello and husband John, Domenic Spinola, Natalie Hasenstab, and husband Eric; her grandchildren, Michael Vestal and wife MaryGrace, Lisa Bernstein and husband Matt, John Aiello, Jr. and wife Angela, Michelle Conejo and husband Albert, Katelyn Hasenstab-Childs and husband Scott, Justin Hasenstab and partner Andrea Koralishn; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving brother, Cosimo "Chris" Parco and predeceased sisters, Josphine (Parco) Beaulieu, Marion Parco and brothers, Joseph Parco, Tony Parco and Samual "Sammy" Parco.
In addition, her brother-in-law, Michael Spinola and his recently deceased wife Doreen; sister-in-law, Sandra Spinola, and her deceased brother-in-law, Thomas Spinola and her deceased son-in-law, David R. Jackson. Visiting hours will be held in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass Celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ida's memory to a charity of your choice.
