Irene M. Duwart Obituary
Irene "Renee" Duwart went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
She was born to Adeline (Mitchell) and John P. Goulart on June 2, 1929, at home on Portuguee Hill, where she spent her time growing up with her sister and brother, Babe and Ralph and very special cousins who were like sisters, Ruth and Julia Amero.
Renee attended Gloucester High School, but having severe asthma was unable to finish. She worked at Gloucester Fisheries on the State Fish Pier before moving over to O'Donnell-Usen Fisheries where she worked as a Quality Control Inspector for many years before retiring.
She married her sweetheart, Richard Duwart, and they enjoyed 58 years together living most of them in Essex. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church all her life. Renee was the longest and oldest standing member of the Gloucester Fraternity Club's Women's Auxiliary at 79 years. She, along with Richie, were also members of the Essex Lions Club.
Renee is survived by her sister, Babe "Mary" Duwart; nephews, Ralph Goulart, Jr. wife Germy, and family of the Philippines, Carleton "Bluey" Duwart, Jr. wife Doreen and family of Gloucester, Scott Enos wife Jane and family of Gloucester, Steve Grecco and family of Henderson, NC; nieces, Renee Pierce, husband Ralph and family of Gloucester, Joan Allin, husband Andy of Quincy, Nancy O'Hanley and family of Magnolia, Pam Ponder of Malden, Patty Grecco and family of Mesquite, TX, Debbie and Wayne Weatherby and family of Nashua, NH, Wanda Lougee and husband Steve and family of Tewksbury, MA. She also leaves many great and great-great- nieces and nephews, godchildren and many cousins.
She is predeceased by her parents, John and Lena; her husband, Richard, along with brother, Ralph and Peggy Goulart; brothers-in-law, Carleton "Bluey" Duwart, Sr., Carroll "Pinky" Duwart, Sr. and Pauline, Austin, and Elinor Enos, William, and Mary Enos, William Enos Jr.; sisters-in-law, Elva Silva and Arline Powers; nephews, Marshall and Yvonne Silva, Rick Goulart, Sr., Michael Enos and Reggie O'Hanley, Carroll "Pinky" Duwart Jr.; nieces, Dee and Butch Stanton and special cousin, Nancy (Goulart) Heisey of Magnolia.
A visitation will be held in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester on Thursday, August 14, from 10-11am followed by Mass celebrated at 11am. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seacoast Nursing and Rehab's Atlantic Shores unit, and the staff at Care Dimensions for their kindness, care, compassion, and communication during Renee's stay.
