Jacqueline A. Gingrow Obituary
Jacqueline A. (Dunlop) Gingrow, 89, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 10, 2021.
Jacqueline spent her early years in Houlton, Maine with her parents and four siblings.
In 1945, at age 14, Jacqui received The Legion Humanitarian Award for saving the Derocher boy from drowning in the Meduxnekeag River when she swam out to rescue the drowning child.
She would relocate many times with her husband W. James Gingrow and their six children, W. James, Gary, Lorre (Anderson), Lynn (Finnegan), Gail (Johnson) and Gregory. After her children were grown, Jacqui moved to London for several years from where she traveled throughout Europe. During this time she biked across Germany. She was always happy to be outside enjoying herself with friends new and old.
Jacqui worked in the health care industry well into her seventies. She also enjoyed travel, reading, puzzles and games, and any time spent working in one of her many beautiful gardens. Jacqui was an accomplished artist of many mediums and enjoyed the company of her family and many wonderful friends. She is survived by her six children, several nieces and nephews, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jacqui will be sorely missed by all.
Jacqueline's family will receive relatives and friends during visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. followed by a service at 4 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. A Celebration of Life will take place in the New Year and will be announced once plans are finalized.
