Jan H. Hofstra Obituary
Jan H. Hofstra, 85, of Gloucester husband of JoAnne Carpenter passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Smallingerland, Netherlands, son of the late Hendrik and Annechien (Postema) Hofstra.
Jan, a gentle soul, was sustained by his love of language, poetry, and music. It was his good fortune to read Greek and Hebrew with friends here in Gloucester. Jan will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Carpenter; daughter, Judith Hofstra; son, Micah Hofstra; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. His burial will be held privately in the Netherlands.
