Janet L. Amaral Obituary
Janet L. (Perry) Amaral, 96, of Gloucester, wife of the late Matthew P. Amaral Jr., passed away on peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Beverly Hospital.
She was born in Gloucester on November 25, 1925, daughter of the late William and Annie (Costa) Perry.
Janet was a graduate of Gloucester High School. She worked for many years as a salesclerk at Larson's Shoe store and at Gorton's of Gloucester on the assembly line. She loved going to her camp in New Hampshire entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and cooking her favorite recipes. She also was an avid reader and puzzler.
While living at McPherson Park, Janet was known for taking care of all the residents and in turn they would take care and look out for her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Maryanne Mitchell and her husband Ralph of Ohio; grandchildren, Amanda Marr, Missy Amaral, Stephen Amaral, Stacy Della Rocca, Matthew Reis, Ralph Mitchell, Stephanie Sweet and Scott Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Brooke Marr, Owen Marr, Emma Rose Amaral, Madeline Amaral, Casey Amaral, Jayden Harvey, Taya Lane, Anya Lane, Kally Della Rocca, Lexi Della Rocca, Matt Della Rocca, Khloe Della Rocca, Ayla Reis, Dylan Joy, Alexa Mitchell, Elena Mitchell, Enzo Mitchell and Julia Mitchell; sister, Jean Thorpe; special family friends, Phil and Elaine Harvey and her furry companions, Bridget and Lucky.
She was predeceased by her sons, Matthew Amaral III and Stephen Amaral; sisters, Pauline Williams, and Emma Sears; brothers, infant Elmer Perry, Whit Perry, and Burt Perry.
Her. Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 12 noon in Wesleyan Cemetery, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
A visitation will be held prior to the Graveside in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
