Jeanne M. Martin Obituary
Jeanne M. Martin, at 89 years of age of Gloucester, Massachusetts died peacefully on June 27, 2023, at the Kaplan House in Danvers with her devoted and loving son Richard by her side. Born in Gloucester, on November 3, 1933, daughter of the late Richard and Inga (Olson) Vale of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Jeanne was married for 55 years to her loving husband, Richard, who predeceased her in 2011.
Jeanne was a graduate of Gloucester High School Class of 1951. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Prudential Insurance in Peabody, MA, the Building Center in Gloucester, and Audrey's Florist in Gloucester. Her happiest times were raising her two children. She also enjoyed knitting with her ladies group, gardening and bird watching. She was an avid fan of the Bruins. She also was a faithful parishioner of St. Ann's Church. She was a favorite Auntie to many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her son, Richard of Gloucester and her brother Richard and his wife Lou of Granbury, Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Barbara Ward and Virginia E. Nicholson, and her daughter, Susan Martin, 53, of Gloucester, who passed away at Kaplan House on February 2, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Susan was born in Gloucester on July 29, 1967. She was a buyer for Fishery Products in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for many years. Sue liked to bake, cook, travel to Maui, and ride her motorcycle. Sue was a handy woman fixing anything from electronics to any home improvement project. She was a kind, generous and loving person to everyone.
Their funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, 74 Pleasant St., Gloucester, MA, Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
