Jon D. Wonson Obituary
Jon D. Wonson, 72, of Gloucester passed away on Saturday, August 5th at the Beverly Hospital.
Born in Gloucester on June 19, 1951 he was the son of the late Arthur Wonson Jr. and Theresa (Camille) Wonson.
Jon was a graduate of St. Peter's School with the Class of 1969. Before college, he spent four months traveling throughout Europe. He later graduated from Bridgewater State College with a Bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy.
Jon had worked for many years as a waiter for several restaurants including the Gloucester House, Down East and Passports.
He enjoyed spending summer days on Niles Beach and was known for his care free, happy-go-lucky attitude. Jon was well known for throwing a Christmas in July party each year for his friends and family.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his siblings, Arthur "Story" Wonson and wife Cynthia, Mary McEachern and husband Robert, Christopher Wonson and wife Wanda; nieces Erica Pietzyk and husband Aaron, Kim McEachern and her partner Patrick McNiff, Sarah Wonson and nephew Richard Wonson; and great nephew George Pietzyk.
His funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Thursday, August 10th at 9 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
The burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester, MA 01930.
Arrangements are being conducted by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
